Tameside junior anglers net gold

Claremont Gardens Angling School has set up an elite fishing team to represent Tameside in the National angling championships after last year’s success, where we took gold in the under 21s and bronze in the under 16s.

 

The elite teams competed at this years NFA National championships where the countries talented junior anglers went head to head on the Grand Union Canal in Milton Keynes Where 300 young anglers aged between 10 and 20 years of age competed to win the national crown.

 

After weeks of practice on the Ashton/bridge water canal all the work paid of when we took gold in the under 16s beating favorites mosella Farnborough & District by one point and in third place was Barnsley & district taking Bronze.

In the junior individuals Tom Woodruff took sliver and qualified for the junior fish O Mania which will be held at hayfield fisheries in Doncaster. Tom caught continuously through out the match catching skimmer bream to 1lb to finish with 5.500kg.

The angling school runs events every Thursday evening through out the summer where juniors can learn different ways of fishing from our qualified coaches, if you have angling skills which we are looking for, it could be you fishing for Tameside elite youth team next year.
