Junior Anglers net gold and bronze at National Championships 2006

Over 300 junior anglers representing 52 teams from all over the country turned out for this years NFA Championships 2006, the venue was the Bridgewater canal in Warrington, the local junior angling club was favourites to win, as they had been practicing on the venue 3 times a week.

 

Friends of Catch Nature and Stalybridge & District Junior Angling Society entered two teams into this year’s event, under 16s and under 21s fishing under the new Name of Garbolino Youth. They put on an excellent display of skill with 14 year old Connor Barlow winning the under 16 individuals and his team mate Tom Woodruff taking 3rd overall. The team event was a very close call with 3 points separating the top three with Barnsley & district AA with 115 points who took gold. Mosella Farnborough came second with 114 points and close followed by the Garbolino Youth with 113 points picking up bronze.

 

In the under 21s event reigning Champions Garbolino Youth take gold for the second time, the lads are unbeaten for the last Four years fishing as a team. They beat home favourites Warrington Anglers to take gold by 8 points clear and they never practiced on the venue, with Mosella farnborough taking bronze.
